Checking for Mail

Hi, what a week it's been.  Trying to get ready for the baby shower on Saturday.  I worked quite a bit this week on making favors.  They are finally done.  Now off to buy prizes for the games.  Then wrapping, wrapping, wrapping.  Oh, and off to the restaurant to pay the bill.
Can't forget that one or they'll be no shower.

This card is for Crafty Catz Challenge #139 - Metal,
and the sponsor for this week is Bunny Zoe's Crafts.

The image I used is from A Day for Daisies.  This card has gone through so many transformations it's funny.  My daughter was visiting when I was originally working on this card.  We picked out a paper and I put the card together.  The  more I looked at it, the more I felt it was way too busy.  A couple of days later I ripped it apart and tried some different papers.  I tried some very simple papers and this one.  I finally settled on this paper.  I left it another couple of days and looked at it again.  Still too busy for my liking.  Along came this challenge to use metal.  I decided to try metal corners on it to see if I like it any better.  The jury is still out on this one.

Totally Papercrafts #123-Use a Digi

This week's challenge at Totally Papercrafts is an easy one for me.  It's to use a digi.
This week's sponsor is Digistamp Boutique.
I chose to use a image from Mo's Digital Pencil entitled, Two Tu-Tus.  Cute name!

As I was blog hopping this week, I came across an amazing blog with some really beautiful work.
The blog is A Sprinkling of Glitter.  Her work is amazing.  Anyways, she was the inspiration for this card.  On her website is a tutorial for making a card using Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page and also a box for the card, since it's larger than average.  I'm going to try a few cards using this technique.

I colored this image using Copics.  The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  The pearl spray is Zva and the butterflies are cut from a Cheery Lynn die.  I always see butterflies on cards and love the way they look, but always forget to use them when I'm making a card.  I also added some cheesecloth behind the image.  The card is antiqued a bit with Distressed Inks.  The paper is from my stash; as usual I have no idea of the manufacturer, although, I do know it was purchased at JoAnn's.

Totally Stampalicious-Red, White & One Other Color

For this week's challenge at Totally Stampalicious I chose J.J. Cook available here.  The challenge is to use red, white and one other color.  I like the clean look of how this turned out.  It doesn't show in the photo too well, but the ribbon is pleated and is available at the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  The digital papers are from Echo Park.  I'm really beginning to like using digital papers.  Its so much cheaper than buying paper, especially since I have to travel quite a long distance to get to any craft store.  It also has the convenience of not running out.  I just just simply print off another page.

Crafty Catz-Challemge #138-Pastel Colours

This week's challenge at Crafty Catz is to make a card using pastel colours.  I usually tend to use pretty deep colours so this was a nice change.  Our sponsor this week is The Stamping Boutique.  They generously provided a selection of images.  I thought this Noah's Ark would be ideal done in pastels. The winner this week will win three digis of their choice from The Stamping Boutique.

I made this card to enter Digi Doodle Shop's Challenge: Farmyard or Zoo.  I was excited to see that they had a challenge I could color an animal for.  I absolutely love their selection of animals.  I think I own most of them.  Anyone that knows me knows how much I love coloring animals!  My husband doesn't quite like the coloring on this one.  I like it, though.  There will always be room for improvement.

I finally got to use one of my new paper packs.Farm Fresh by the Paper Studio.  I bought it about three months ago, but then I got out of card-makin' mode.  I'm glad I remembered I had it.  The button is from my grandmother's button collection that was left to me.  I colored this with Copics, of course.

Dreams-First Crafty Catz DT Post

I was very happy to learn that I was selected for the Crafty Catz Weekly Challenge Design Team!  This is my first entry.  The challenge this week is "#137-Embossing."  This week's sponsor is the fabulous Paper Shelter.  I chose this cute little boy, dreaming of the big leagues, for my image.

I wish I knew the manufacturers of the paper that I used.  I previously belonged to a club that I received kits from each month.  I never got around to keeping track of which companies products were supplied each month so now I have a big basket of papers that I don't know the manufacturers for.  Oh well.

Father's Day Card for Tony

I just realized that Father's Day is this weekend.  I needed to make a card pretty quickly because it needs to be mailed cross-country before Sunday.  I made this card for my dad, Tony.  He has always liked bulldogs so I thought he might like this image.  The digi is from Just Inklined.  I think I have purchased all of their dog digis.  I'm just waiting for the opportunity to use them.

I colored him with Copics.  The paper is one of my favorites from October Afternoon.  I stocked up on it so it would last a long while.

For Katie

This is a card I made for my daughter Katie.  She's due August 31.  We found out she's having a boy.  So exciting!  I just had to make this image when I saw it.  No ice cream and pickles for her, though.

The image is from Saturated Canary.  The paper is from Stampin' Up.  I colored her with Copics.  I couldn't find just the right flowers so I made this one.

My project for this weekend is finishing off the insides of about twenty cards.  I should do it when I make them, but I don't, so today is the day.  I'd like to get some of them on Etsy this week.

Three Cheers

This is one of the latest images from Mo's Digital Pencil.  I fell in love as soon as I saw her.  I grew up on Staten Island in New York City.  Parades were a big thing in our town.  I remember many years of sitting on the curb watching the parades go my.  My favorite part was always the horses, that is until as a teenager I actually got to march in the parades.  There is nothing worse than having to march following a bunch of horses..

The papers and everything else is from my stash.  The flags were kind of plain so I got daring and printed letters on them.  I hate writing on the fronts of cards.  I usually just don't like the way it looks.  It didn't turn out too bad this time.

Copics:  B23, C00, C0, C1, C7, E000, E00, E01, E11, E18, E21,  E97, E00, R11, R22, R27, YR12, YR14, YR20

For Julie and Ernie

This is my first entry for the design team for Totally Stampalicious.  I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with this wonderful team. The challenge this week is "Get Your Giggle On."  The image I chose is Gus-Hunter.  He's available here at the Totally Stampalicious store.

As soon as I saw this image I instantly wanted to make it for some friends, Julie and Ernie.  Ernie loves hunting.  He goes away for a couple of weeks during the year to hunt for elk and deer.  This card suits them to a tee.  Julie is indeed patient.  I'll save this until next hunting season and give it to Ernie with a BIG bag of sunflower seeds (his favorite snack to take hunting.).

I showed my husband, a non-hunter, the card.  He doesn't get the humor.  Of well!

I colored this with Copics.  The paper is from Karen Hunter Design.  It's actually a camping paper.  I tried to cover up the obvious references to camping, but don't tell.

Copics:  B0000, C00, C0, C1, C3, C5, 100, E000, E00, E11, E18, E30, E31, E33, E35, E37, G09, G82, G85, G94, R02, R11, R20, YR07, YR09

This image was created by Morgan Fitzsimons and it's available at Scrapbook Stamp Society.  I saw someone do a really lovely job on a mermaid's tail the other day and it made me really want to try the effect she used.  Thank you, for the inspiration, Carole.

I colored this with Copic markers.  I used Stickles on the flower centers and coated the wings with Glamour Dust and a tiny bit of blue glitter to add a little boost.

The beautiful ribbon is hand dyed pure silk from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  I'm very frugal with that.  It was a tad pricey.  The papers are digi papers from Bearly Mine Designs.  They are running a great sale right now.

I don't recall who the die is from.  Of course, I've gotten rid of the packaging.

Copics:  BG0000, BG000, BG01, BG02, BG10, E00, E01, E11, E25, E27, E29, E33, E37, R11, R22, V01, V04, Y21
